The 2nd Annual Conference & CME of the Society for Intraoperative Neurophysiology (SION) was held from 8th
to 10th November 2024 in the vibrant city of Chandigarh. The meeting brought together neurosurgeons,
neurophysiologists, anaesthesiologists, and IONM experts from across India and abroad for three days of
immersive academic sessions, hands-on learning, and scientific exchange.
The conference was led by late Dr Sandip Chatterjee, the SION President, Dr S.K GUPTA, the Organizing
President, and Dr Sushant Kumar Sahoo, the Organizing Secretary.
Conference highlights included video sections demonstrating the use of IONM in different brain and spine
surgeries, interactive sessions on nuances of neuromonitoring, and advancements in IONM by esteemed
national and international faculties.
The inaugural SCIONCON 2024 commenced with a pre-conference workshop on November 8th at the Neurosurgery
Skills Lab, Gamma Knife Centre, PGIMER Chandigarh. It offered step-by-step demonstrations of all major
neuromonitoring modalities, supported by intraoperative videos and guidance from leading national and
international faculties.
With Workshop Coordinators Dr Sushant Kumar Sahoo, Dr Apinderpreet Singh, Dr Chandrasekhar Gendle, Dr
Narender Kaloria, Dr Priyadarshini Mishra, and Dr Vishwanath Bhaire, the topics covered included
foundations of IONM, Cranial Monitoring, Brainstem & Posterior Fossa Monitoring, Spinal Cord Monitoring,
Epilepsy Monitoring, and hands-on extensive module-based training sessions.
